Llandudno Rugby Club Junior section is for boys and girls aged 6 to 16 years old, and gives players of all abilities, the opportunity to be part of a team and play for the club on a regular basis.
Llandudno has been very successful in coaching its players, and has seen boys and girls form its junior section, selected to play for Conwy County, Eryri and North Wales in recent years.
It's very encouraging in the light of concerns about children's health and fitness that the 2006 -2007 season was our best yet for junior membership with over 160 young players registered to take part in rugby on a weekly basis.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Llandudno Rugby Club takes the safety of young players very seriously, and all coaches, assistants and club officials that are concerned with the junior section, undergo a standard or enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check every 3 years.
All of the club's coaches hold a WRU Level 1 or above coaching qualifications.
If you assist in transporting children other than your own to fixtures away from the club, it is club policy that you must sign a proforma stating that your vehicle is roadworthy and that you have adequate insurance. Please see your child’s Coach about this. Copies of the Junior Section Policies and Procedures are available for you to read, if you wish, on the junior notice board in the Clubhouse.
The Club welcomes parental support at home and away matches. The Club Chairman and committee have put together a Code of Conduct that applies to officials, players and supporters of all Llandudno teams, and this can be read in full, on the Club notice board.
It is important that this Code of Conduct is abided by, to enhance the reputation of Llandudno Rugby Club, as a welcoming one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Our membership fee for the year is only £15.00 per player. This fee is for club and North Wales registration, insurance and running costs, and provides very good value for money in comparison to other sports. Fees are payable within the first two weeks of the player starting training, and should be paid to Dawn Duffy at the club along with completed club registration forms and a photo for the players North Wales Identity card, or given to the team coach in an envelope addressed to Dawn Duffy. Players are not insured and cannot play in matches against other clubs unless they are registered with the club and North Wales WRU. Coaches must present player’s ID cards, with photo and unique registration number, if requested to do so by officials from other clubs.

As well as the training sessions, it is important that player’s turn up for matches on a Sunday. Please inform your child’s coach if your child is not available to play. 2-3 parents are needed each week to help prepare the hot dogs and drinks for the players after the matches and cups of tea for the spectators.
The club is trying to set up a rota so it is not left to the same parents every week. Please speak to the coaches about helping out. Preparation can be done before the matches, then serving after so you don’t have to miss watching your child’s game. Coaching and referees courses are held regularly at locations around the county. If you have an interest in rugby and would like to help the club and junior players on a weekly basis or whenever you can, please speak to Dawn Duffy for more information.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The junior section has its own committee and has been very successful in its fundraising efforts and applying for grants for the junior teams. Parents are welcome to join the committee and attend meetings, or just help out when you can with fundraising events! Annual events include:-

Please let us know if you have any Ideas that could help us with fundraising, grants, or employers that will sponsor Kit, or a match ball. Match results and team pictures are sent to the local press on a weekly basis.
All monies raised is spent on kit or equipment for coaching the players, or for helping to fund visits to rugby clubs further afield, for example, last year, junior teams took part in a tournament in Wilmslow, and trips to the Wirral and Cheshire are planned this season.
Also the U12’s & 13’s went on tour to Llandudno’s twin town of Wormhout in France. They were successful on both the Rugby and Football pitches, enjoyed excellent French hospitality and learned about the history of the area and its connection with Llandudno. The team, coaches and parents who went were such excellent ambassadors for the club that this year’s U12’s & 13’s were invited to return, and will be on tour in October ’07.
It is hoped that this may become an annual event, giving all our young players the chance to visit Wormhout on tour.
